Since 1994, the Chair for Production and Logistics is a vital part of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the OvGU in Magdeburg. Accordingly, the challenges of decision making in the fields of production and logistics is what our chair has devoted its work to. From the wide spectrum of operational tools, we focus on supporting the decision making process by employing quantitative methods. The entire team of our chair has the urge to sustain high standards in terms of teaching and research and, by this, successfully contributes to the prosperous development of our faculty.

In order to continuously be competitive in an international research environment, the entire team strives for high levels of expertise in our specific research areas. By presenting our achievements at national as well as international conferences and by publishing them in reputable international journals, our team attempts to accomplish this objective. Both, the participation in annual Ph.D. workshops and the integration in an international research network provide the chance to cooperate with national research teams as well as to interact with international researchers from universities all over the world.

Furthermore, our chair offers a great variety of courses for bachelor and master students in the German as well as in the English language study programs of our faculty. The lectures and tutorials are tailored for students from the Faculty of Economics and Management but also for those studying Industrial Engineering. By thoroughly designed learning modules and intensive personal mentoring, we encourage our students to aim for extraordinary goals in order to be highly successful in their studies. As our courses integrate academic and industrial points of view, we give our students the opportunity to implement their academic skills in practical applications, for instance by writing their theses in cooperation with an industrial partner.
